TMB: It's Urgent
[rt_reading_time label="Reading Time:" postfix="minutes" postfix_singular="minute"]
I haven't written enough for myself the last couple of months. The craft-building has almost exclusively been happening at work. I don't have a large audience there either, but it doesn't matter: to consider one self a writer, one must write. That's what the Ten Minute Blog (TMB) is about: whatever is on my mind at the moment, for 10 minutes.
On a Sunday afternoon in December, as I reflect on the learnings of the last year and linger in thoughts of plans and goals for the year ahead, I can't shake the sense of urgency that engulfs me.
I think I've always been fast. Fast learner, fast at adapting to new environments, fast at finding patterns, and fast at driving to coordinated actions that sparks change.
Yet it's never felt as urgent as it does now. I know it's partly because it's 2021. I experience the texture of this moment and the energy it holds for massive global shifts everyday. And I know it's also because of where I find myself in my career and in my life. There simply is no time to waste.
How we chose to use time, whether it's simply our own, or each others, is a phenomenon that touches the core of my values. And when it comes to my time, it's pretty simple: it must be sustainable. And not for the future, for right now. It's urgent.
We can do better, right now. And we have to go faster. It's urgent.
