Gloss Over: Since the Funk Episode...
[rt_reading_time label="Reading Time:" postfix="minutes" postfix_singular="minute"] A few weeks ago, I got real vulnerable with Meaghan on the Gloss Over Podcast about being in a funk. As I listened to the episode once we published it on SoundCloud, I started to feel scared about what the response to my opening up about difficult topics of the like might be: what are people going to think? When I hit the publish button on The Voices Collection, I knew there was no going back: I was putting a much different kind of voice out there than usual.A couple weeks later, I am still generally funky: uncertain about my career's next steps, feeling emptied of my usual creativity, a bit foggy and frankly looking forward to retuning to the US from my beloved Munich, where I have been for the last couple of weeks after a freelance assignment. But I feel a shift in the tide: I'm back on the fitness tip, I am getting in a groove with the routine and I am generally staying off the booze and eating healthy. Plus, the weather is starting to be encouraging, the days are longer and the energy of the universe is feeling more supportive. What's been most positive however, is actually what I was initially scared of... I am grateful for those who have reached out to say: "Girl, I get it. It happens to me too. And I am here for you if you need to talk. You are not alone."Once again, I have learned that putting myself our there in a vulnerable way has strengthened my connection to others. We are all in this game of life together. We can share our experiences, help each other out, hold each other accountable, inspire each other. And that's a beautiful thing.
