The 2024 Solheim Cup

I could tell the minute I got near the gate at Robert Trent Jones. This golf vibe is different than anything I’ve experienced before. It’s not that this is a ladies tournament as opposed to my usual PGA Tour bros. I’ve followed my favorite LPGA tour player, my sister-in-law Mallory, before. And I’m in my home state of Virginia, so it’s not the terrain either - I’m used to this scenery.

It’s THIS event.

First of all, the stands are packed. At 1 tee, a DJ is spinning jams everyone is dancing and singing to! To my friend Tara: “Girl, let’s park it here for a while!”

To myself: This is why Worth, 6 X Team USA Solheim Cup caddie - retired and my father-in-law once removed has so many jovial stories about this international ladies golf competition. I text him immediately: “Worth Bob, now I know why you loooooove the Solheim Cup so much.” The energy is FIRE.

And from this vantage point, I got to watch the best players from Europe and America tee off for the afternoon competition for this cup. ⬇️

I braved the crowds to get my good eye on Nelly Korda. RESPECT.

In the distance, I also saw Nancy Lopez rolling around with team USA. Studying the game and making me think about my mother-in-law once removed, Myra Blackwelder, 1983 LPGA Tour rookie of the year + Kentucky golf legend. I wanna see Myra here!

She and Worth raised their children, Mallory + Myles, on golf courses. THIS tournament is a tribute to women’s golf game. A celebration of global achievements in the sport. A tribute to legacy as a contagious love agent for the sport that continues to lives at the center of all of lives, at least in the Trudeau-Blackwelder family.

I’m all in on the Solheim Cup. That was memorable.
