They say a founder’s ability to rally a team together around her vision is a key success metric for a new business venture.
You know I am already all in for that. Wait until I tell you about the interns!
For now, this: I’m getting outfitted with a whole new advisory team.
At the top of my list: assembling a cohort of legal experts.
Big leagues business.
See I’ve always done deals on someone else’s papers, but this time, I told him: “I wanna do it on my own terms and I need all the pieces in place to manage the risk before I commercialize the first deal. This is a key success criteria to establish for our fall prototype.”
I came to get in the game, he can tell.
The legal expert in front of me, a complex contract genre tells me: “I don’t know anyone that’s doing this.” In a “that’s impressive” way.
He doesn’t know that this is totally on brand for me. That my theater is the innovation space.
We proceed and we probably aren’t a match for what I need.
Yet, at the end of our consultation time, he says: “I’m interested in keeping the conversation going.”
Not: this is interesting. Not: my fee is XYZ. Not: I’ll get back to you. Not: come back to me when you are ready to scale.
Beyond the possibility of teaming, he gave me a declaration of interest.
The way I see it, a signal, from the investor market, too. 🫰🏼
