Good Guys: You Give Me Hope
I never thought I would use these words: I have hope.
Especially not in business. In fact, if you had told me even just 3 years ago that as 2023 wrapped up, I would be hopeful about the guys, I would have told you to fuck off. Because back then, I had rarely seen a man leader I really looked up to - they were mostly all the same. In the old world, the good guys were too few and far between.
The last 18 months have shown me different. Sure, maybe it's me: I've also transformed into being the leader I need to be for this new business world. But I'm still the bad ass experience innovation consultant I've always been. And I see something different now that I'm peers with the guys. Some have hired me as an advisor or to lead their most important growth projects; others simply share with me as a confidente, in the intimacy of friendship. They have even started to offer their help because they, too, see what I see.
And what I see is they are tired too. Of chasing top line at all costs. Of being in relationships - at work, at home, in their societal roles - that hold them back from being part of the change they, too, want to see in the world.
The guys give me hope. Because as soon as they decide to get their shit together, to clean up their act, and to do something, anything different than what they've been programmed to do all along, they are gonna bring new meaning to their lives. And it's only gonna take a few courageous ones of them to shape a brand new business world out here, for all of us.
I am here for it. Talented, trained, tenacious and ready to work. Hopeful, at last.
Let's go guys. It's time to be good. We have a lot of purposeful work to do.
